Prettily packaged presents

November 26th, 2008

I’ve devised an easy, quick way to ‘wrap’ my gift boxes- black satin ribbons, cut to size to fit round the box, held in place by round stickers which have been printed with my logo. I purchased the stickers on ebay.co.uk and I buy the ribbons in bulk spools. Inside the box is a white card printed with my logo, with slits snipped into the edges to hold the jewellery. I have these cards printed by Vista Print, the width is perfect to fit inside the boxes I use, but they are too tall in height so I scalpel the bottoms off (I have them printed with a dotted line where I need to cut them).  I do use smaller and larger boxes, the inserts for these are made at home on my laser printer- I use cream cardstock, onto which is printed a template of a sheet full of the cards, with cut marks. It’s a bit fiddly to make the template but it’s well worth the time.

A lazy princess

November 24th, 2008

Meet Daisy (our four year old Shih Tzu - Lhasa Apso cross baby). She’s the princess of the house, and she wakes when she pleases. Sunday morning means snuggling up with blankets and pillows. Unfortunately for me, Sunday means cleaning my desk and organising my office, which looks like a tornado has hit at the end of the week.

Around town.

November 22nd, 2008

It’s officially winter. Today was icy cold, one of those bright-ish grey days perfect for strolling round town and snapping some pictures. We did some shopping on Prince’s Street, where I found the perfect red coat at Topshop (you can kind of see it in the last picture). I had intended to take some outdoor shots of one of my new necklace designs and it worked out well with the new coat I bought, the blue/red/black combo really pops. I also took some pictures of a row of sweet houses next to the castle and a strange little door I’ve never noticed before, which was underneath a big bronze statue. Made me want to move closer into town (we live just on the outskirts at the moment).

So. This is my first blog. I hope to use this to give a bit more of a personality to my Etsy store and my website. It’s getting hard to keep up with conversations via Etsy, I receive many messages from people asking for tips, suggestions, etc. and I try to respond to every one but it’s becoming increasingly difficult to manage Etsy conversations…. I have over 5,000 in my folder, with no way to categorize messages I haven’t responded to. I hope to give some insight into how I run my business, and a little bit of my personal life. If anyone has any suggestions for things they’d like to see on my blog feel free to contact me.
